US victims of paedophile priests carried their protest to the Vatican yesterday as a controversial cardinal led a special mass for John Paul II, bringing centrestage one of the key problems facing the Catholic Church as it searches for a new pontiff.
Two women leaders of the US-based Survivors Network of the Abused by Priests (SNAP) were escorted out of Vatican territory on St Peter's Square as they tried to distribute leaflets headed: "Please help us to heal the wounded and protect the vulnerable." (more...)
